14 women experts in occupational health and safety from different companies are participating in a regatta around the Atlantic Islands on 26, 27, 28 and 29 September.
Quirónprevención’s proposal coincides with World Maritime Day, which in 2019 focuses on the empowerment of women in the maritime community with the essential aim of raising awareness about gender equality within the maritime sector, according to the United Nations International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
How:
14 women representing major companies will participate on 27, 28 and 29 September in a regatta around the Atlantic Islands, accompanied by a group of Olympic and ocean sailors led by Kahena Kunze, Olympic champion in Rio de Janeiro 2016. The participants will spend 48 hours together on two sailboats, working as a team and keeping watch at night. This is a pioneering initiative that organises meetings on healthy habits among different companies through the women who represent them. The first edition of this initiative, which took place in June 2018 with a Valencia-Ibiza-Valencia journey, was classified as an “Event of exceptional public interest” by the Government, through the Higher Sports Council, within the Universo Mujer programme.
Why:
Quirónprevención is the leading international company in the occupational health and safety sector with more than 5,000 employees, 165,000 client companies and more than 4.5 million protected workers. In Spain, it features a network of 300 centres that allows it to provide coverage throughout the country. It is also present in 7 other countries with its own subsidiaries and provides consulting services in more than 25 countries. It not only promotes preventive culture within organisations, but also in society in general, because it believes that a preventive attitude should go beyond the workplace.
Thus, in this second #DesafíoOlaSalud, fourteen women became champions of healthy habits while representing their companies: MAPFRE, Altran, Cajamar Caja Rural, La Voz de Galicia, ADM WILD Valencia, Reganosa, Saica Pack, Seguros SANTALUCÍA, Saint-Gobain, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Constantia Tobepal, Loramendi, ABANCA and Orange. Olympic sailors Iago López-Marra and Diego Botín (Rio 2016 Olympic Games), Diego Fructuoso (TEAM TELEFÓNICA Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012) and Kahena Kunze, Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic champion and head of this expedition, accompanied these brave women on an unforgettable adventure.
Kahena Kunze
HEAD OF THE EXPEDITION

World Championship, Olympics and, most recently, the Pan American Games. After having already won Brazil’s qualification for the 49r class for the next Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Kahena takes a break from her hard training with her inseparable partner, Martine Grael, to lead this second edition of the “Ola Salud 2019 Atlantic Islands Challenge” in Galician waters, sponsored by Quirónprevención.
